This guide provides information on all of Wiltshire Sight’s services, it covers everything from our popular Drop-ins throughout Wiltshire and Swindon to our Looking Out For Sight project aimed at healthcare professionals. It also includes a list of other organisations that can support you with sight or hearing loss. Access to information
Our telephone helpline or a visit to our Sight Centre is often the first port of call for people who are affected by sight loss. We provide information and advice to callers on issues such as services available at Wiltshire Sight and other organisations that may be able to provide support. Trained staff are available to demonstrate a wide range of equipment and low vision aids.
Early intervention Support
We run an early intervention ‘drop in’ at various locations and also support the volunteer Helpdesk at the Eye Clinic in the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
We run monthly Eye Contact ‘Drop in’ sessions and Groups at a number of community locations across the county, offering support, information and advice.
Living with sight loss workshops
Our Eye Can workshops provide people with friendship, the skills and information to adjust to life with sight loss.
We can offer one to one demonstrations and workshops of the latest technology devices in our Assistive Technology suite.
Support and Friendship for Families and Carers
Coffee mornings provide friendship and fun for family members and carers. As well as information and support.
Children and families support
Zoom Club provided friendship support and fun for famiIies.
We run a weekly craft club in our Sight Centre in Devizes and a Living Paintings monthly book club.
Keeping in touch
We provide large print and audio newsletters and have a CD lending library. We are the local agents for the National Wireless for the Blind Fund, which provides accessible audio equipment on loan.
